French Language Policy
The French Language Policy states that Yukon’s French-speaking community is a partner in determining practical requirements under the Languages Act and will be consulted to determine priorities for government services.
The policy states that Deputy Ministers and Presidents of the Yukon government are responsible to ensure the development and implementation of departmental action plans for the provision of services in French in accordance with the Languages Act and the policy.
The policy states that services should be:
- useful – meeting real, expressed needs of Yukon’s French-speaking community;
- useable – practical, accessible, consistently maintained and of comparable quality to services in English; and
- used – promoted to those who would potentially use them.
